Today, Vuyani Dance Theatre takes a moment to honour every individual whose work makes it possible for our productions to come to life. ✨

A performance is never created by one person. It is the result of many hands, many skills, and many hours of dedication — often long before the audience enters the theatre. 🎭💛

On this Workers’ Day, we extend our heartfelt appreciation to:

🎬 The directors, choreographers and rehearsal teams who shape the artistic journey
🎛️ The stage managers, coordinators and production crews who hold every detail together
👗 The costume designers, wardrobe teams and makeup artists who bring characters to life

🩰 The performers whose artistry carries the heart of the work
🗂️ The administrative, finance and operations teams who keep the organisation moving
📣 The marketing, communications and content teams who connect our work with audiences

A production is a collective achievement — layered, collaborative, and deeply human.

🇿🇦 Happy Freedom Day! Today we celebrate the power of the arts and the dancers, creators, and storytellers who embody freedom through movement, voice, and vision.

🎭 Among them, we proudly highlight two of our beloved Andile Otto Nhlapo & Roseline Wilkens.

🎉 Andile Otto Nhlapo’s new work "CODE DNA" premiered at the UJ Arts Centre on 24 & 25 April 2026—a bold declaration of identity, memory, and authorship. Later this year, Otto will step into a major role in "The Head and the Load", carrying history and responsibility with courage and clarity.

🎊 We also celebrate Roseline Wilkens, whose artistry now extends internationally as she joins Gregory Maqoma and William Kentridge in "L’Orfeo" in the UK. Her presence continues to expand beyond performance into authorship and influence.

👏 On this Freedom Day, we dedicate our celebration to Otto, Roseline, and all artists whose journeys remind us that freedom is lived through creativity, resilience, and the power to shape our own stories.
