"Foresight" Foresight: Narratives beyond Repair and Resilience The history of contemporary African art is often tethered to narratives of trauma, resilience, and "repair." Our "Foresight" exhibition is a deliberate pivot, inviting artists and audiences alike to transcend these dominant narratives. We propose an African future defined not just by what was survived, but by what is proactively built next. This exhibition challenges the expectation of the "struggle narrative." It is a sanctuary for speculation—a space where artists envision an African past, present, or future anchored in joy, technology, indigenous sovereignty, and proactive creation. The focus is on the radical act of imagining abundance rather than reacting to scarcity. "Foresight" is an exercise in agency, asking what narratives we build when we are no longer defined by the need to repair. It is a celebration of what is yet to be built, a shared vision for a future where empowerment is the norm and creativity is a sovereign act
