Great to see the power of the arts and culture being drawn upon to strengthen the fight against corruption in South Africa at the Ngeke Festival at Constitution Hill, Johannesburg. Even more inspiring was watching young people step into leadership with courage and clarity.

At the Festival, Louisa and I — together with the Riky Rick Makhado Foundation and the Global Artivism Movement — were proud to stand with artists, activists, and communities who know that the struggle against corruption must also be cultural.

Corruption doesn’t only steal money; it steals futures. But when we gather in our numbers, when creativity meets conscience, the corrupt lose their power. The Ngeke Festival showed us what becomes possible when we refuse silence and choose mobilisation instead.

Let’s rise. Let’s organise. Let’s turn cultural energy into political pressure.
📢 Ngeke ngithule. Ngeke ngikwenze. Ngeke ngiye ngedwa.

We asked our Fair Play Music South Africa winners two questions:

1️⃣ How does your music inspire people to speak ut on corruption?
2️⃣ What can people expect from your Ngeke! Festival performance?

Here’s what Xtreem Makhayeni & Onset Music Group had to say! 👆

Make sure to witness it all live today @ Constitution Hill! Grab the very last tickets NOW at www.ngeke.co.za

Today, young South African leaders gathered to learn from Ngeke! Festival partners about anti-corruption programming and how to promote transparency, responsibility, and ethical behaviour through enhanced accountability practices.

Mr. Kaizer Kganyago, Chief Stakeholder Relations & Communications Officer at the Special Investigating Unit- South Africa, also joined the session to share insights on the SIU’s work and how they are adapting their communications to better reach and support youth activists tackling corruption in South Africa. Here’s a glimpse into the session!

The festival is only one day away, but there’s still time to secure your tickets! Don’t miss out 💥

Say it with music. Say Ngeke!

On 6 December, I’m joining the Ngeke Festival at Constitution Hill, Joburg — a celebration of courage, creativity, and the collective power of South Africans to say Enough is enough.

Corruption is not just a political issue; it’s a daily theft of dignity, opportunity, and hope. Corruption steals from all of us. But when we come together — young, old, artists, activists, dreamers — we become unstoppable.

I will be speaking at the festival about how corruption affects every part of our lives, and how each of us can play a role — big or small — in turning the tide.

Come through for the music, the energy, the purpose. Leave ready to take action and help build the Mzansi we know is possible.
We’ll be uplifted by artists who carry the spirit of resistance in every note: 🎶 Zoë Modiga, BCUC, Onset Music Group, and Xtreem Makhayeni with LERAI guiding the energy as host.

Tickets are free — just sign the NGEKE! Pledge at www.ngeke.co.za

See you there, where we raise our voices and our spirits, and declare loudly:
