FlamenKhoi would simply not be if it was not for our director Jonathan Pienaar. He was the driving force behind its creation, from the time he bought a CD, the Bushmen of the Kalahari, on a road trip from Joburg to Cape Town, he never missed a beat… from its early days meeting Isaac Pinky Xu Ramagole through the late Dada Masilo in 2015 and creating Kuele with UnclePaul Mashiane it has grown from a three piece to and 8 piece band in its current form - Dancing in the Dust.

Jonny directed each one of us personally and transformed our experience as artists from the inside out… we will hear his voice and hope that we can hold onto the brilliance of what he gave us…

It is hard to find the words that might express the gratitude and depth of feeling… what a great gift and honour to have had him on his brief but immensely impactful journey Jonathan Pienaar.
