Sets Drapes Screens (SDS) is seeking an experienced Estimator to join our Cape Town team. Reporting to the Branch Manager, this role is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, labour estimates and quotations for set construction and related projects while supporting effective project planning and cost management.

Key Responsibilities:
✅ Analysing construction drawings, renders, specifications and project plans.
✅ Preparing material, labour and cost estimates.
✅ Generating comprehensive quotations in HireTrack.
✅ Managing supplier and contractor quotations and cost analysis.
✅ Developing relationships with clients, suppliers and contractors.
✅ Monitoring project costs and maintaining cost databases.
✅ Conducting research on materials, consumables and equipment.
✅ Assessing project risks and preparing estimate reports.
✅ Assisting with work instructions for new and existing projects..
✅ Supporting operational planning and cost reporting.

Requirements:
• Matric qualification required.
• Previous experience within the sets industry or equivalent related work experience.
• Ten years' estimating experience or equivalent related work experience
• Previous budget management experience.
• Strong analytical and budgeting skills.
• Ability to read complex technical drawings.
• Working knowledge of Excel and word processing programmes.
• CAD / VectorWorks knowledge advantageous.

📌 Cape Town

Sets Drapes Screens (SDS) is seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Draughtsman to join our Cape Town team. This role is responsible for producing accurate technical drawings to support the production and installation of set elements, CNC components and structural solutions within the live events industry.

Key Responsibilities:
✅ Translating design briefs into accurate technical drawings.
✅ Producing working drawings for set elements and structures.
✅ Creating CNC component drawings and programme drawings.
✅ Programming CNC machine drawings and processes.
✅ Preparing drawings to support production, logistics planning and equipment requirements.
✅ Developing conceptual drawings and design solutions as required.
✅ Maintaining drawing libraries, archives and venue plans.
✅ Managing drawing updates and ensuring files are correctly maintained on the SDS server.
✅ Communicating drawing changes with workshop and production teams.
✅ Ensuring designs comply with relevant safety regulations.

Requirements:
• Matric qualification required.
• Design and/or draughting qualification.
• Basic experience with CAD software and draughting techniques.
• Ability to interpret briefs and translate concepts into technical drawings.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good communication and organisational skills.
