ONE-NIGHT STANDS IN WHITE MUSTANGS

The debut solo exhibition by Amogelang Maepa opens in Johannesburg following its Cape Town showing.

To mark the opening on 4 June, Maepa will perform a live poetry reading within the exhibition.
18:30 & 19:30

In ONE-NIGHT STANDS IN WHITE MUSTANGS, Maepa works between poetry and ceramic form to explore desire not as an event, but as a system – repeating, circulating, and leaving residue. The exhibition moves through the aftermath of intimacy, where forms hold what cannot be resolved: longing, exposure, and the persistence of feeling.

“A sensual, emotionally charged exploration of fleeting desire and lasting residue.”
— Unathi Kondile, Mail & Guardian

Curated by Karolien van Zyl

For the months of June and July we welcome Khaya Njabulo Malinga to The Creatory in-gallery residence.

“During the residency I will develop a new body of work using photography as my primary medium. Drawing from recently inherited family archives alongside my own photographic works, I aim to explore the relationship between personal memory, lineage, and lived experience.” - Khaya Njabulo Malinga
