While visiting Auckland in NZ this past month I'm glad that I took some time to also work a bit, now this nearly finished 550x550 oil and acrylic painting will help to adjust easier when I arrive home as the finishing process of it plus others will take priority in my busy mind over home duties like bills and empty kitchen cupboards

This was a commissioned painting I did for a long lost client of many years ago. We lost contact and then she found me again whilst reading a write-up with my work and profile. I decided to call this 'The time in-between'

Here are two of approximately five paintings I'm working on at the moment.
I love working on a few simultaneously especially when I have left over acrylic paint to prevent waste. Also the variety of lines, colours and brush strokes tend to clear my mind and give me more headspace to see each one with a new mindset when I go back to it

I have done these two 30x30cm paintings with a variation of media - oil paint, acrylics, acrylic pens, pencil, ink, stain and glazed water washes. I have questions for you though, I used a more loose style with a washed look on the bottom one and went somewhat more structured on the top one. Do you think they look well together and which one do you prefer?

this is where I should have put my brushes down and stopped. I nevertheless decided to add shadows and contrast using black. Needless to say ! overworked it, added way too much excess paint and consequently messed up something that could have been really nice. My solution was to do my 'reverse' technique as I call it. I use chemicals, dishwashing soap, scrubbing brush and high power hose with water. This exposes the bottom layers, creates unexpected texture and depth. So except for the additional work I'm excited to see what comes out of it now ..
