National Performance Poetry Challenge 2014
This year’s Drama for Life Lover + Another National Poetry Challenge launches into its fifth installment with a whole new trajectory. The cutting-edge poetry slam retains it themed based
confrontation of the realities pertaining to HIV/AIDS, sexuality and relationships, but this year seeks to take to poetry out of the theatres and into four completely different spaces. This year Lover + Another is taking the challenge into the city and onto other public domains; both physical and virtual.
So if you consider yourself a poet, wordsmith, or any kind of lyricist make sure you register to be
part of this nation-wide poetry challenge. In shifting the domain, four separate platforms have been created for poets to slam in, all of which offer prizes for the top three poets of each slam. The four platforms are:
i. Wits University Lover + Another Slam: Friday, 29 August 2014 Matrix
ii. Cuddles Session Lover + Another Slam: Saturday, 30 August 2014 ’s Oasis (Newtown)
iii. Kiri-Pink-Nob Lover + Another Slam: Sunday, 31 August 2014 @ The Platform (Bez Valley)
iv. An all new online Lover + Another Slam, which shall run all the way until 30 September 2014
There is no registration or entry fee and poem/s entered may be in any official languages of South Africa (a written translation will be required for those poems in languages other than English).
