MTV is on a search for actors for the upcoming new season of Shuga and one of the roles could go to You.

MTV and MTV's Staying Alive Foundation have ordered a fifth season of the drama series which explores sexual and emotional issues that impact on the youth. Previous seasons have been filmed in Kenya and Nigeria but the new season will be filmed in South Africa for the first time, produced by Quizzical Pictures (Rhythm City, Intersexions, Umlilo).

The season premieres on MTV Base and BET on 8 March 2017, with a mix of returning and new cast - which is where you come in.

The production is looking for actors to join returning cast members in principal and minor roles and the castings are happening in Joziburg and online.

Open audition call

The open auditions will be held on Saturday, 15 October at Bassline in Newtown Joziburg. Doors open at 09h00 and close at 17h00.

Online auditions

If you can't make the open auditions, you can submit a short audition video of yourself via Twitter or Instagram by using the hashtag .

Who can audition?

- South African residents between the ages of 18 and 35.
- You should have good spoken English and no criminal record.
- No acting experience is necessary.
- You have to be available for filming in Joziburg between December 2016 and January 2017.

If so, M-Net wants You for Spellbound, a new game show based on the concept of a spelling bee.

The series premieres on M-Net at 17h00 on Sunday, 20 November and the search is on for the country's top English spellers, in three age groups.

Each week contestants will battle it out in three rounds: a round for primary school learners between the ages of 10 and 13, a round for high schoolers between the ages of 14 and 18, and one for adults of all ages.

Everyone will compete to be ultimate winner in each category and the winners will win bragging rights as well as cash prizes for themselves and their schools.

How to enter

You need to complete a questionnaire and an online test which you'll find here: /MNET website / Spellbound entry form.

Entry must-knows

All entrants have to be South African citizens or permanent residents.
If you're entering the adult category, you need to be 18 or older.
School learners must attend a school in South Africa and must have the permission of their parents or legal guardians to take part in the show.

Meet Joseph. Charity Ramabu's son. The child she had when she was living in Scotland who she had to leave behind. The secret she kept from Marothi who found out the truth when he delved into her past.

Joseph makes his debut on Skeem Saam tonight in the Season 4 premiere. The show has been renewed for another year of episodes and Joseph's arrival exposes a tale about Charity's past that hasn't been told yet.

She returns home from Scotland with him which creates a huge stir with everyone because they aren't sure what his arrival means, especially when Charity gets cagey about things.

Who is the pint sized actor who plays him? Six-year-old Naol Yimam. . Word from show is that he's a fantastic actor who's brought a lot of joy to the set.

Roll up for a cool casting opportunity....

isiBaya's production company, Bomb, is on a search for actors for a new show and castings are happening in Durban this week.

The show's looking for actors between the ages of 21 and 30 who are willing to relocate to Johannesburg for the filming of the show. Filming will happen between July 2015 and July 2016.

Vuzu Amp's looking for impressive MC's for a new undergound rap show called The Hustle. The show's looking for contenders between the ages of 18 to 26 who have the rap IT factor and who have street smarts when it comes to da business.

Skeem Saam casting call !

Skeem Saam - now the #1 show in the country - is on a search to cast new characters and will be holding open auditions in Hammanskraal and Johannesburg.

As you may know, most of the actors currently on the show were cast at open auditions. The new characters will join the show in 2015 when the lead characters leave high school for university. They're going to form an integral part of a new, additional Johannesburg world that some of the characters will relocate to.

These are the characters the show's looking to cast:

Young vibrant students (aged 18 – 25)
Lecturers (30 and older)
Tutors (24 and older)
Security guards (25 and older)
University Staff (25 and older)
Pairings for possible parents (40 and older)

Who is the show looking for?

Talented performers who are driven, passionate, dedicated, disciplined and have a fervent desire to be on the show.

Skeem Saam is primarily a Sepedi show, based in Turfloop, Limpopo but producers say that the Johannesburg world will be as true a reflection of the diversity of Johannesburg as the show is able to create. It'll be populated by people from all over the country, and people from different parts of the continent and abroad.

To achieve this, the show is looking to cast males and females of all the language groups in South Africa.

What must one do for the audition?

You need to prepare a two-minute monologue of your choice. It could be from a stage play, a TV show or a movie. Audition scenes will also be available at the auditions on the day.

You should dress for the part so that you look like the characters as much as possible.

Muvhango's 2012 open casting calls delivered so much talent for the soapie that the show's kicking off 2013 with an open casting call in Jozi this weekend.

Auditions are happening this Saturday, 12 January 2013 at Bassline, 10 Henry Nxumalo Street, Newtown in Jozi. Doors open at 08h00 and close at 17h00.

Word from the soapie is that no previous acting experience is required but great energy and personality is paramount. Audition scripts will be available at the venue.

The roles up for grabs are as follows:

Mulondo (Male - Venda & English speaking) – 11/12 years: A quieter, more introspective child. As Susan’s child, he will not be chief, so he has less expectation on his shoulders than his younger brother. He is not the favoured child of Masindi because he is not of royal stock. He is clever and thoughtful and adores his parents.

Muvhango (Male - Venda & English speaking) – 7/8 years: Cute, cheeky little kid. As Pfuluwani’s child he is definitely in the running to be the next chief and he will grow up to know this. He gets away with being naughty. He is over-indulged by Pfuluwani and Vho-Masindi, who adore him beyond measure. You know that one day this kid is going to break hearts. Precocious.

Busi Motsamai (Female - Born Free Generation, Sotho, Zulu & Eng speaking) – 17 years – 21 years: She has spent almost one year in an English school in Tokyo and when she returns to South Africa, would have to complete her matric year here.

Vusi Mukwevho (Male - Born Free Generation, Venda, Zulu & Eng speaking) – 17 years – 21 years: He is the spoiled prodigal son who returns home to cause havoc and throws Thandaza into the turmoil of mothering a growing young man. He is charming and uses his charm to get out of trouble. He knows that his mother has influence and can sometimes use it to get away with anything.
