African Street Craft

African Street Craft OUR ROOTS
We started in early 2017 as two young entrepreneurs from South Africa, who had an idea of providing a platform for informal street artists.

Inspired not only by a business opportunity but the idea of being able to work with and help less fortunate and extremely talented artists. Artists who may not ever have access to the necessary resources required to showcase their talent to thousands of potential buyers across the web. With the artists being limited to selling from one or two street corners within a small area, African Street Craf

t strives to provide an opportunity to expand the marketplace for the artists who we work with, most who come from underprivileged backgrounds. As the founders of African Street Craft, we have seen many of the above mentioned artists first hand, just minutes away from our homes, in the neighbourhoods where we grew up. Being naturally entrepreneurial, we are always on the lookout for new business ventures and opportunities so we decided to pursue this meaningful idea which is about much more than usual business. THE MISSION
African Street Craft aims to create profitable returns, just like any other business but what sets us apart from many is our strong desire to help those who are less fortunate. African Street Craft also aims to connect gifted but under resourced artists to the rest of the world. We strive to enable African street artists to have a fair shot of increasing their profits that their work has to offer instead of being destined to minimal exposure and growth. We believe that we have an obligation to help our fellow human beings by working together through their struggles and sharing our successes, especially with those who are missing out on the life opportunities that we have been so lucky to have in our own lives. We aspire to provide a platform, an opportunity for our artists to showcase their talent to a never ending market online as opposed to being limited to one or two street corners within one small suburb. In addition to working with street artists, African Street Craft also strives to give young, up and coming, African artists and photographers the opportunity to showcase their work, and increase their exposure on our online platform. OUR VISION
We hope to provide an opportunity to improve the quality of living and economic situation for the many street artists who we work with. Majority of who would statistically be destined to a life of poverty or at most minimum wage level earning which is equivalent to roughly $1 per hour. We are hopeful that our success will in turn inspire other underprivileged artists within our society to pursue their dreams as an artist as opposed to a life lacking ambition and being forced to find “any job” to survive and support their families. We aim to facilitate as many street artists as we can with the goal of eventually getting them off the streets. In terms of our vision from a business perspective, we wish to become successful and sustainable with regards to profitability. We aim to become one of the biggest online street art platforms that the world has to offer. Not only limiting ourselves to street art but also acting as a platform for up and coming artists who wish to establish themselves further. Another goal of ours is to connect the rest of the world to Africa by means of an online art gallery for our various categories of arts and crafts. We want art admirers from outside and even inside of Africa to be able to purchase incredibly unique African style art online and receive helpful and ethical service from our team. Besides for the artwork itself, we want our customers to have a personal connection with the artist and his/her art work. We want to reach a level whereby our artists are able to sell their art at similar prices to that of top artists from all over the globe. This would hopefully help the company grow to a financially secure and sustainable level but more importantly help the artists improve the quality of their lives by earning life changing sums of money.
