•𝑭𝒊𝒈 13: ~ Circa 2018 We created something to mark history and still continue to contribute through others 💐, that’s the linage.

Traditions are the guideposts driven deep in our subconscious minds. The most powerful ones are those we can’t even describe and if we are to preserve culture we must create it.

I’m a custodian of this journey and today I woke and realised that the full circle moment happens to you everyday for as long as you live in it honestly and fearlessly…and it doesn’t wait to find you at the other side of the starting point , it runs towards you in opposite direction.

This will be the emblem that marks the next phase of , inaugurating the exploration with this opening reflection in my ongoing series, “Abuse Of The African Print Comes As No Surprise™

Inspired by the Pan-African ethnic flag representing all peoples of African descent and black nationalism influence by Marcus Garvey in 1920. This is indeed a meta narrative in this context.

•𝑭𝒊𝒈 8: ~ Made a contemporary version of independence.

The AB jersey inspired by the red , green and black Pan-African flag that symbolises the blood of those who fought and still fight for liberation today through representing the people of African ancestry and I low-key wanted to make the yellow of the original 🇺🇬 green for the natural wealth and abundance of the African continent. This was really special for me and just stuff I care about, so it’s important.

This is team with no sport that Virgil was talking about ✨✨•

•𝑭𝒊𝒈 7: ~ Inspired by the title and all encompassing connotations of a poem by Jenny Holzer titled “abuse of power comes as no surprise”.

My series “Abuse Of The African Print Comes As No Surprise™ “ provokes concepts of how capitalism exploited themes of culture appropriation & in hindsight I ironically use the traces of fabric tourism to highlight this culture appropriation in the commonalities that still help us to create our own identity and dispel historic socio-political traumas by creating new futures in new space.
