DANCE MOUSE™ is a unique and diverse dance programme that is offered as an extra-cost school or extra-mural activity for boys and girls from Grade 000 – Grade 7. Dance increases your child's fitness levels, coordination and self-confidence. He/she will learn valuable life skills and develop a lifelong love of dance no matter what aptitude he/she has for creative movement. The DANCE MOUSE™ syllabus
offers an awesome foundation to the many different forms of dance: Hip Hop, Freestyle, Contemporary,
Cheerleading, Latin American basics, Hula Dance, Gymnastics, Break Dancing, Rock and Roll and Hip Tap - just to name a few. If your school or Rec centre does not have Dance Mouse please contact Claire van Niekerk from Dance Mouse Waverley, to organise a meeting or a demo. The DANCE MOUSE™ Ballet syllabus includes Ballet and Body Conditioning techniques, a Ballet warm-up, Ballet dances, Ballet character dances and general stretching techniques for Grades 000, 00 and 0/1. Dancers will choose two dance forms per year. Dance forms on offer: Contemporary, Hip Hop, Street Hip Hop, Latin American Dance (e.g.: Salsa, Cha – Cha), Freestyle, Slowdance & Musical theatre dances. The dancers will work towards an annual performance each year. Dancers will achieve a medal and certificate for their efforts. The DANCE MOUSE™ syllabus is endorsed by SADTA (South African Dance Teachers Association) and has been introduced to hundreds of schools throughout South Africa over the last 4 years.
