WSOA Department of Theatre and Performance Theatre & Performance Department at Wits School of the Arts, Johannesburg

Choosing to study in Johannesburg offers the advantage of being located in the cosmopolitan cultural hub of South Africa, and the Theatre and Performance (TAP) division (formerly Dramatic Arts) promotes the interface with members of the professional community through theatrical productions and various projects, excursions and “professional conversations”. The four year BA Dramatic Arts (BADA) offe

red at the University of the Witwatersrand has the status equivalent to an Honours degree. Established in the late 1970’s as the School of Drama, the newly re-named Theatre and Performance division (TAP) in the Wits School of Arts will launch its new curriculum in 2016.TAP offers professional training combined with a rigorous academic programme of study dedicated to producing individuals who can move into the professional world of theatre and arts practice in multiple capacities. The current staff of the Drama Division comprises a rich mix of highly respected academics and professional practitioners who embrace innovation while training students in the core aspects of traditional theatre practices. Theatre and Performance (TAP) is home to a dynamic community of outstanding academics and artists in drama, theatre, performance and cultural studies.
