Did you know that Winnie Madikizela-Mandela — anti-apartheid activist, ANC leader, social worker, and the beloved “Mother of the Nation” — was detained as a political prisoner during the 1976 uprisings?
A member of SASO and the Black Parents Association (BPA), she continued the struggle while raising two children in Soweto and supporting the liberation movement during Nelson Mandela’s imprisonment.
Her unwavering courage and leadership left an indelible mark on South African history.
You can Honour her legacy this by exploring her story in an exhibition at Constitution Hill.
