Cobi Meyer has been part of Melville for the better part of three decades, and today you'll find her at Ziggy's Pet Pamporium on 7th Street.

Ask what keeps her here and the answer comes easily: the people.
"Melville is like a little village. It has a very strong sense of community and a unique character. There's nowhere else like it."

Her one word for 7th Street? Magnetic.

And when we asked what women bring to this neighbourhood, Cobi put it beautifully:
"The women in Melville are the secret thread that holds Melville together. Courage, connection and stability, in a very unstable economy, that's what they bring."

Meet Gourmet Gimba; a female-run food business cooking up a storm from their kitchen right here at Melville Mansions.

Think fresh, eclectic food with its feet firmly in Mzansi and its taste buds travelling the world. Local favourites, global flavours, seasonal produce and menus made for everything from intimate gatherings to big celebrations - without the fancy-food fuss.

They're big on supporting local farmers and small businesses too, which makes them very much our kind of neighbours.

Some of the best things on 7th Street aren't necessarily visible from the pavement.
Sometimes they're busy in the kitchen. 👩🏾‍🍳🔥

There's a lot to love in a five-star review.
But we have a particular soft spot for "second stay." 💗

Jerome came back to Melville Mansions - for the welcome, the comfort, the beautiful spaces and, of course, a neighbourhood that's rather difficult not to fall for.
His advice to future guests?
"Don't hesitate!!"

Sometimes it's nice to see yourself through someone else's eyes. 💗
2Summers came for a Melville Mansions staycation - spending a night in Green, taking in 7th Street from above, exploring the building and, naturally, making time for some very good Melville eating along the way.

Her verdict? A fun staycation on one of Joburg's vibiest streets. We'll happily take that. 😏
