Coming face to face with a blank canvas a painter has a choice to make: to see the new space as the opportunity to repeat earlier “successes”... i.e
this to reproduce an acceptable version of oneself, or, to see the blank canvas as an invitation to explore further the possibilities inherent in earlier work... i.e. to expand the range of experience, to grow.
