USURPA Gallery, in partnership with Fak’ugesi and African Techno, proudly presents a special showcase of Mary Sibande’s iconic work at Decorex 2025.

Titled Sophie As The Shadow of Her Former Self, the exhibition reimagines the arc of Sibande’s practice. Through this collaboration, her protagonist Sophie is emboldened in a new chapter, punctuating the theme of leisure, a notable departure from previous motifs. Sophie now lives across print and digital media, signalling a transformative evolution of the artist’s vision.
