When I speak about merging personal testimony with communal histories, I’m really talking about recognizing that no story is singular. Even our most intimate memories are shaped by larger cultural, political, and historical forces.

A significant movement toward the cultivation of a new era of contemporary art through the lens of the African child. Breeding strong, conscious independent producers.

Visibility, inclusivity and representation are par key elements in establishing an institution, movement -then dedication and compassion are the lungs of this yet challenging experience. We have a home to stage our works at HOME.

The visionarys Mxolisi Masilela and Gifter Ngobeni, the world has been forever ready . Thank you for honoring us, our culture, and sterrIng the wheel with great confidence , determination and vulnerability. A smile, a hug and a 'What can we do to make it better' definitely changed and shaped the experience during production from the incredible team at The TX Theatre

The The TX Theatre Theatre Week 2025.

PETTICOAT PRINCESS; homage to a captivating woman in athletic history, Sabina Chebichi. A former Kenyan middle-distance runner and first women of color to triumph at the Commonwealth games marathon in 1973. Chebichi was barefoot and wearing nothing but a petticoat. Thus, her tag ‘petticoat princess’ came about.

PETTICOAT PRINCESS

A reimagination of a captivating woman of courage, Sabina Chebichi. A former Kenyan middle-distance runner, marking her spot as the first women of colour to triumph at the Commonwealth games marathon in 1973, barefoot and wearing nothing but a petticoat. Thus, her tag the ‘petticoat princess’ tag came about.
Post making headlines as Kenya’s new athletic sensation and model to the mass of her community. The future of her career hauled as nature called. Chebichi bared the fruit of her womb ending her career and future participation in the sport. Several African female athletes who achieved success on the world level as runners concurred that having children at a young age hindered their ability to pursue their athletic goals.

The inquisition of a turbulent format that sees through the demise of incomparable women on the rise is yet to be unfolded.

Legendary stories are told of great athletes, but none beats that of Sabina Chebichi
