Wits Theatre

Wits Theatre The Wits Theatre Complex, a vibrant cultural space on the campus. The Wits Theatres are where our society can be mirrored and young minds challenged.

Wits University has one of the finest performing arts facilities in the country where its students can hone their skills and where professionals can be seen regularly. The Wits Theatre is a service organisation within the University, providing support for the mounting of these productions, and aspects of technical teaching and practical training for both the disciplines of Dramatic Art and Music.

It handles the day to day running of the Wits Theatre complex and Great Hall and while the University community have first call on the facilities, it also caters for a large, diverse collection of professional companies, dance studios and schools. Safe parking in Senate House and at the Station Street entrance after 5pm on the weekdays and on weekends. To access the Atrium park at at the Yale Rd entrance

The second edition of the Wits Standard Bank - South Africa
Piano Festival, takes place from 8 -10 May 2026 at the university’s Chris Seabrooke Music Hall.

The programme will feature a line-up of eight musicians in four double-bill concerts, each performing solo, offering audiences a rare chance to hear seven of the country’s foremost improvisers and storytellers and one international artist in an intimate acoustic setting where the piano will shine.

The show is made possible through the generous support of Standard Bank, with additional contributions from the WSOA Department of Theatre and Performance
