Recently, I've been exploring and developing a new art style using dots and lines to create meaningful compositions. Inspired by pointillism and the effect it has visually. If you're considering adding something fresh to your home, send me a DM for more info

Chofetz Chaim- Rabbi Yisrael Meir Kagan

Rabbi Israel Meir HaCohen Kagan is commonly known as the "Chafetz Chaim," the name of his famous work on guarding one's tongue. He was born in Dzyatlava, Grodno Governorate, Russian Empire (today Belarus), on January 26, 1838. As his reputation grew, students from all over Europe flocked to him and by 1869 his house became known as the Radin Yeshiva. The Chafetz Chaim published twenty one books. His first work, Sefer Chafetz Chaim (1873), is the first attempt to organize and clarify the laws regarding Lashon Hara. Other notable works include the Sefer Shmirat HaLashon, an ethical work on the importance of guarding one's tongue and the Mishnah Berurah (printed between 1894 and 1907) which is a commentary on the Orach Chayim, the first section of the Shulchan Aruch, and has been accepted universally among many Ashkenazi Jews as an authoritative source of Halacha.

Rachel has always been a mother figure that has inspired me. Her selflessness, self-sacrifice and kindness are unparalleled. The fact that she gave up her Beloved so that her sister would not be embarrassed is beyond anything I can imagine. It is for this reason that in Yirmiyahu (31:14-16) G-d listens to Rachel. Out of all the great personalities that begged G-d to redeem the Jewish people, G-d listened only to Rachel. G-d listened to her tears.

"The pure righteous do not complain of the dark, but increase the light; they do not complain of evil, but increase justice; they do not complain of heresy, but increase faith; they do not complain of ignorance, but increase wisdom."
Arpilei Tohar (1914), p. 2.

Rav Kook was born in Griva, Latvia in 1865. His father was a student of the Volozhin Yeshiva, the centre of 'mitnagdut,' whereas his maternal grandfather was a member of the Hassidic movement. He entered the Volozhin Yeshiva in 1884, where he became close to the Rosh HaYeshiva, Rav Naftali Zvi Yehuda Berlin (the Netziv). Already in his youth, he was well-known as a prodigy. At the age of 23, he entered his first rabbinical position. Between 1901 and 1904, he published three articles which anticipate the fully-developed philosophy which he developed in the Land of Israel.

In 1904, he came to the Land of Israel to assume the rabbinical post in Jaffa, which also included responsibility for the new secular Zionist agricultural settlements nearby. His influence on people in different walks of life was already noticeable, as he attempted to introduce Torah and Halakha into the life of the city and the settlements.

The outbreak of the First World War caught him in Europe, and he was forced to remain in London and Switzerland for the remainder of the war. While there, he was involved in the activities which led to the Balfour Declaration. Upon returning, he was appointed the Rav of Jerusalem, and soon after, as first Chief Rabbi of Israel (though the state had not yet been born). Rav Kook was a man of Halakhah in the strictest sense, while at the same time possessing an unusual openness to new ideas. This drew many religious and nonreligious people to him, but also led to widespread misunderstanding of his ideas. He wrote prolifically on both Halakhah and Jewish Thought, and his books and personality continued to influence many even after his death in Jerusalem in 1935. His authority and influence continue to this day.

“How good are your tents, Jacob; your dwelling places, Israel.”
Numbers 24:5

Having spent the last few months AT HOME, I can really appreciate the meaning.

My Interior decorating background has impacted my love for art and vice versa. Judaism has always been my motivation and where I find my passion. My positive associations with tradition, and the warmth of Torah, is where I draw my inspiration. Decorating to some may seem one-dimensional. Often I have felt that I need decorative elements, that hold meaning and deep inspiration.

DKal FineArt aims to deliver purposeful compositions and intentional art. My hope is that my art will inspire families in their beautiful homes.

I hope to deliver authentic originals as well as more affordable prints with the option of framing and delivery, for your convenience.
