🌸 There is something timeless about Jardin animé — a piece that asks dancers not only to move beautifully, but to become something alive and luminous.

This production brought together all three tiers of our company — Minis, Juniors, and Seniors — each finding their place within a shared vision. To watch them coordinate, complement, and elevate one another on stage is a reminder of what ensemble truly means.

This is what months of training looks like. 🩰

Every arm. Every line. Every gaze directed with intention.

This is the result of hours in the studio, corrections repeated until they become instinct, and a standard of precision that the YRBC demands from every single dancer on that stage.

The corps de ballet is one of the most technically and artistically demanding aspects of classical ballet. Every dancer must move as one. Spacing, timing, port de bras. Nothing is approximate. Nothing is left to chance.

At the Youth Russian Ballet Company, our dancers train year-round in the traditions of Russian Classical Ballet. The same tradition behind the world's greatest classical companies. The only youth company in South Africa built on this foundation, undiluted.

This is not a school showcase. This is a professional production, performed on the stage of Roodepoort Theatre, alongside guest soloists from Joburg Ballet.

Revil Yon, Principal Dancer of Joburg Ballet, returns to the YRBC stage for Jardin Animé, 16 & 17 May at Roodepoort Theatre.

Revil will be performing the Grand Pas alongside our own soloist Karmia Postma — and if you were lucky enough to witness this duo together in 2024, you already know the magic they bring. Once more, we get to see this gorgeous partnership take the stage in a breathtaking pas de deux.

Meet Tamar Aptsiauri — joining us on stage as guest artist for Jardin Animé, 16 & 17 May! 🩰✨

A graduate of the State Ballet School of Georgia, Tamar has performed as a soloist across France, Italy, and the iconic Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre in New York. Her expertise is deeply rooted in the Vaganova method — which she previously taught at the Cultural Centre of Russia in Rome.

Tamar is a whirlwind of energy, warmth, and kindness. Many of you already know her from Adults Ballet at Russian School of Ballet. She has been working closely with our soloists and coaching our YRBC dancers as rehearsal coach — and her presence in the studio has been truly special.

We are honoured to welcome her to the YRBC stage. 🌹
