In The Box is a live production challenge where a producer has 35 minutes to write a song. This piece will be made in front of the sound-rig at the venue.
Producers can be within or without the box.

Karmerr took part in our 2Sides2Citys ITB. She wrote a poem based off the vocals she used during the challenge. Here is her poem:

“Taste your words before you spit them out; wash your hands before you swing.
Wish I could reverse the hateful acts that caused this violence to begin.” - Karmerr

All tracks from this series will be released next month as
ITB002 with Vic Mari, Miggy Pop and SingleMotherOfTwo.

Abby is known for her versatility as a DJ who keeps dance floors ablaze with her diverse showcasing of house, disco, electronic, acid and techno.

Over her career, Abby has crafted a unique brand and reputation under the hashtag as a die-hard vinyl music selector whose personality is shared through her authentic DJ performances.

Dokta OOZ has spent most of his life discovering and collecting music across formats with the aim of discovering auditory perfection in order to unravell what makes people tick, musically. This obession has led him on a journey of digging and mastering the art of DJing. His selection is imbued with a propulsive rhythm between house & techno not shying away from sweltering electro kick-snares, rolling djembes and compelling vocals enabling a mind voyage.

His style of play has cemented his place in Joburg’s talented and vibrant scene. He’s been featured in party’s such as the infamous TOYTOY, heavyweight Underground Africa, high octane Muud, a resident at the home-grown, organic The Loft as well as a founder of the vinyl-only WaxOn. WaxOff. party. He’s also played alongside the elites such as Alarico, Dr. Banana, Stephanie Sykes, Slin, Stella Zekri, Beste Hira, Marron, Marcal as well as line-ups featuring Phase Phatale, Leif Muller and Orbe.

For Dokta OOZ it’s always about the music and will always be for the music. House, Techno and everything betwixt the mix - a phrase he coined that encapsulates his love and respect for music.

Playing b2b with Karmerr from 21:00-23:00 we have Mobbtech. Tiego Cignoli, better known as Mobbtech, is a South African DJ and producer carving out his lane in the underground. We are proud to be collaborating with Artclub and friends. A fashion forward clothing brand founded by Robyn Keyser in 2016.

Artclub is a youth and women owned design studio based in Cape Town.

They will be launching their Autumn collection which coincides with Women in Bloom panel discussion at their Nine Yards , Johannesburg store on Saturday the 25th April from 11AM to 2PM. 2Sides2Citys will serve as the After-Party for this important date.

2Sides2Citys Artist - Karmerr

Next Saturday is an important day for us all. 2Sides2Citys is the launch party for our third various artists compilation. On this compilation, Karmerr, will be releasing her track titled Speekin It. Her taste and attitude toward music continues to inspire us. We are grateful to have her preform two sets next weekend.

At 17:00 Karmerr (Live) will take on our In The Box Challenge. Then at 21:00 Karmerr and Mobbtech control the floor together. (DJ)

2Sides2Citys Artist

Opening up our JHB show next Saturday we have MacGyver. MacGyver is a South African Producer and sound engineer - co-founder of Soryuka and half of Art Society. His roots are in the deep and micro ends of house and minimal, bringing a tactile understanding of groove and sonic architecture.

MacGyver approaches sound like a sculptor - shaping rhythm through texture, tone, and tension.
He also leads much of Soryuka’s technical production, mastering, and artist development, helping shape Soryuka’s consistent and distinctive sonic identity.

We look forward to hosting MacGyver next weekend!
