😎👏👌The Count Down Has Begun!🤩🔥🥳
4 Days to the preview of production,Peeling Shadows, which will open the Ramolao Makhene theatre this Friday 30 October 2020.

The show is inspired by the pervasive South African Urban Legends that reside in our collective consciousness. It explores the lives and importance of essential workers through myths and draws attention to how often we allow those legends and myths prevent us from connecting with each other. The production aims to open minds, wash eyes and help us all see each other for who we really are.

The Market Photo Workshop take a firm approach to the sexual assault

The Market Photo Workshop has learnt of allegations of sexual assault concerning one of its educators. The letter was received via our student WhatsApp group and later shared on Twitter this morning; the victim is at this stage anonymous. We view the allegations very seriously and have given much consideration to the impact of these allegations for the alleged victim and alleged perpetrator, as well as our school community.

It is with this in mind that the Market Photo Workshop, a business unit of the Market Theatre Foundation, has decided to place the educator in question on precautionary leave while we explore legal advice. Even though the alleged assault did not happen on our premises and the alleged victim is not from the Market Photo Workshop community, we view this in its seriousness and encourage the victim to report the matter to the police.

The Market Theatre Foundation and all its business units have a zero-tolerance approach to all matters relating to gender-based violence.

''Text me when you arrive'' will be streamed tomorrow at 2:30pm and again at 6:30pm tomorrow Thursday 8th and Friday 9th October. Followed by a conversation at 7:30pm.

The Windybrow Arts Centre brings you conversations under the umbrella. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥Thari seeks to engage members of society to recognise themselves as culture creators – as people who may be contributing to, and perpetuating, the culture and traditions that no longer resonate with us as a society? It is imperative that we deconstruct our prevalent culture, and its origins, and dissect how we uphold and accept norms that no longer serve us as a people.

Through the provocations presented by South African women in their works of art, we will tackle the subject of the culture – that we have accepted as normative – that is harmful to society. Thari brings men – who have taken a clear stance against GBV – into the conversation that is currently being spearheaded by women, to chart the pathways forward to communities where all can thrive, free from harm.
