Hip-Hop Turns 53 🎂

Today the world celebrates 53 years of Hip-Hop. What started as parties and DJ's trying new things in the Bronx has transformed into a global culture force. On August 11, 1973, DJ Kool Herc's back-to-school party shaped what would become this huge movement decades later.

This party was where DJ Kool Herc pioneered the technique of isolating and extending the percussive "break" of a song using two turntables. Afrika Bambaataa and Grandmaster Flash were also fundamental in shaping the foundational sound and culture along with Kool Herc. Happy Birthday, Hip-Hop!
