We often get asked... "Why do I have to take off my shoes in a Nia class?"

First of all, there are no "have to's" in Nia. While Nia is classically practiced barefoot, if you want to leave your shoes on, go for it!

For those who choose to kick off their shoes, we practice barefoot as a way to stay aware of sensation and connected to our bodies.

There are 7,000 nerve endings on the bottom of each foot.

Practicing barefoot stimulates a physical and psychological sensation of being grounded making you deeply aware of each step.

A full month of classes for August, as we begin to introduce a new routine called WILD. Come try it out! It's a lot of fun, full of movement and music variety, and really is suitable for all fitness levels, ages and abilities.
