Moretele Local Municipality Held Its 1st Annual Matric Awards Ceremony

Moretele Local Municipality proudly held its 1st Annual Matric Awards Ceremony today, recognizing the achievements of local learners.
The event was organized by the Office of the Honorable Mayor Masango George Manyike, the Community Development Services Department, and the Moretele District Education Department.
The ceremony was blessed by North West Department of Education MEC, Ntsetsao Viola Motsumi, affectionately known as MEC Wa Ma 2000.
Award categories included:
- Best Performing Schools
- Worst Performing Schools
- Best Performing Subject Advisers
- Best Performing Teachers
Top Five-performing learners were awarded study grants worth R20,000, along with trophies and certificates.
The overall best-performing learner in Moretele, Kgahliso Seshoka, received the Mayoral Study Grant of R20,000, an HP i7 laptop, a Certificate of Merit, and trophies.
This prestigious event was championed by the Mayor's Special Projects Manager, Mr. P**e K. Moseki, and the dynamic young Director of Community Development Services, Mrs. Nomathomo G. Temba.
In his address, Hon Mayor Masango George Manyike stated, "This prestigious event will be an annual occurrence moving forward, as it is our responsibility to ensure that we deliver services to our constituencies and motivate our learners to excel in their studies."
MEC Ntsetsao Viola Motsumi highlighted Moretele's significant contributions to the overall matric results in Bojanala District and the North West Province, which currently ranks 4th nationally.
She urged the Class of 2025 to strive for the top position this year.
Mrs. Baleseng Tlhoale, a beneficiary of the Mayor's Special Projects Study Grants, expressed her gratitude, saying, "I am what I am today because of the Mayor's Special Projects programs. Today, I stand before you as a qualified educator.
It is possible, regardless of where you come from."
Dikeledi Pole spoke on behalf of the Moretele Traffic Learners Graduates, emphasizing their success due to the Mayor's Special Projects Units Program.
The occasion was further enhanced by the outstanding performances of 2024 Song of the Year Winner, Tebogo "G" Mashigo, Tsekeleke Sdudla Sa Go Bina Too Much Too Much ...alongside his partner Black Cat Girl, as well as local artist Snokonoko from Carousel View, known for his hit songs "The Kermit" and "Born Again."
