Project Impact Statement: Music Workshop

On 31 January 2026, Saziso Infotainment and Projects, in partnership with Emasisweni Music Concert and Ezandawonye Music Festival, successfully delivered a comprehensive Music Development Workshop in Ndwedwe, KwaZulu-Natal. This marked the organisation’s first large-scale training intervention since its inception in 2015, reaching 99 musicians, most of whom were participating in formal music training for the first time.

The workshop was made possible through the support of the National Arts Council (NAC), whose contribution enabled the partners to deliver high-quality training, facilitation, and community engagement. The initiative demonstrated the power of collaboration in strengthening the creative sector, particularly within rural and previously disadvantaged communities.

The programme attracted approximately 700 community members, creating both cultural and economic impact. Local vendors benefited through trading opportunities, aligning with PESP objectives of job creation and income generation. The engagement with the Ndwedwe Isicathamiya Association, led by Mr Cde Prince Fana Goba, further strengthened community ownership and sector cohesion.

Notably, the impact extended beyond the workshop day. One beneficiary group, Ndwedwe Original, immediately reinvested their earnings into producing their first album, while Ndwedwe Lovers, led by Baba Zikode, will receive sponsored studio recording support for their debut album scheduled for 22 February.

Reflecting on the milestone, Saziso Dlamini, CEO of Saziso Infotainment and Projects, said:

“This workshop reminded us why we exist. Seeing artists ask meaningful questions, take ownership of their careers, and immediately reinvest in their craft confirms the real impact of our work. As we celebrate 10 years of existence, we remain committed to empowering indigenous artists through collaboration and sustainable interventions.”

Facilitators included Simthande Myeza, Fortune Madlala, Nduduzo Makhanya, Nonhle Ndinisa, Lungi Dube, Siphokuhle Sipho MrRight Chule, and Saziso Dlamini, whose dedication and expertise ensured meaningful skills transfer.

As the organisation marks its 10-year anniversary, plans are underway for a major celebratory event honoring artists who have been part of this decade-long journey, reaffirming its commitment to nurturing indigenous music and rural talent.
