Meet the Artist - David Chiponda

Born in Zimbabwe, artist David Chiponda’s creative journey has been shaped by craftsmanship, mentorship, and transformation. After relocating to South Africa in 2016, he established himself as a specialist metal craftsman, known for his intricate detail and deep-rooted passion for the craft.

In 2021, David’s artistic potential was recognised by Dirk Durnez, founder of Kunye Colab, who saw beyond technical skill to a unique creative voice. Under Dirk’s mentorship, David spent two years refining his artistic practice, embracing innovation, sustainability, and community-driven values.

Today, David’s work reflects a powerful fusion of traditional craftsmanship and contemporary art, drawing from his Zimbabwean heritage while engaging with the vibrant creative landscape of South Africa. His pieces speak to transformation, cultural identity, and the enduring spirit of creativity.

The Luminaries - a new series by Talita

"What started out as a playful exercise presented me with what seemed less like dream characters and more like a series of personifications, or aspects of the feminine.
These are women that don’t perform but who simply inhabit themselves.
They are at ease, relaxed, their awareness luminous." - Talita

She is mountain and river.
She is the roots that anchor and the wind that carries change.
She can be gentle enough to cradle new life, and strong enough to carry generations.
There is no single way to be a woman.
The Nature of Women celebrates the many expressions of femininity - wild, quiet, bold, resilient, nurturing and unapologetically authentic.

This August, we honour every story.

Your life in Technicolour is Calling - by Wendy
The title whispers the true meaning of this underwater encounter: Your technicolour life is calling...
This wild, intelligent sea creature is a reminder from the Universe to stop merely existing for others, for women to be unashamedly themselves.

It is her own buried intuition asking her to wake up, feel the intensity of her own power.
Reminding her of the phenomenon of women: continuously shifting from organisation to chaos,
literal to spiritual, sensitivtity to aloofness, deep love to distance.

A calling to dive headfirst into the vivid messy beauty of a modern woman’s life, fully and unapologetically - to live a life in full colour.

Join us this Women's Month as our female artists interpret the beauty, vulnerability and quiet power that cannot be contained by one voice alone.
