An absolutely wonderful review in the Cue the other day:

http://cue.ru.ac.za/2015/07/leading-you-through-the-character-door/

Included some gems like:
"Stewart takes you on a powerful mental trip of intricate theatrical inception"
"Character Door will leave you in a state of limbo and uncertainty, but its blurring of the lines between performance and lived reality, and the mental or very real violence that comes with it, is something worth experiencing more than once"

Thank you Cue!

Also, last two shows today at 4pm, and tomorrow at 9pm – don't miss out on, as Ms. Solomon calls it: 'playception'. Hope to see you there, and thanks to everyone who has supported so far.

Character Door: a dark and juicy piece of psycho-thriller metatheatre, starring two of Rhodes University's finest young actors, and written by one of their more optimistic ageing ones.

The story revolves around two Joe Soaps living Joe Soapey lives in the cement jungle of commercial Johannesburg – Michael: cynical, sarcastic, romantic, an aspiring playwright, and Gerrie: solid, loyal, affable, and soon-to-be-dad. However, on a day just like any other, Michael and Gerrie's lives are turned upside down when they realise that the fabric of their reality is easily stretched...and easily torn. They are transported into a world where theatre and life bleed into each other, and violence dogs them wherever they go... As the programme blurb reads: "Character will draw you into the world of the stage, and leave you stranded".

Written by Kelsey Stewart, and starring James Sülter and Chad Emslie, this unmissable production will premier at the Standard Bank National Arts Festival, with five performances from the 2nd - 6th of July. Bookings are open, so please secure yourselves a seat as soon as possible. We look forward to entertaining you.
