Join us tonight for a powerful dialogue between two of our directors from the TX Theatre Hub:Mxolisi Masilela in conversation with Masai Sepuru.
This is more than a conversation, it is a meeting of vision, craftsmanship, and the journey to The TX Theatre Hub @ The Market Theatre. You saw what we did at the National Arts Festival, watch us make history AGAIN.

The Journey to NNational Arts Festival Makhanda
As I reflect on our journey as the TX Theatre Hub to the National Arts Festival, I’m reminded of what it truly means to be independent theatre-makers. We often use that term “independent” to describe creating theatre without the support of major institutions or formal funding structures. And that’s exactly what this was, a courageous, ambitious undertaking by young Black theatre-makers who refused to back down, even when the odds were stacked against us.

It was an honour to share the stage and ideas with such bold, uncompromising producers. I take great pride in being counted among those who insist, those who dare, those who jump.
I’ve looked into the eyes of those who hesitate and I understand them. In fact, sometimes I envy them. I envy their sleep, their comfort, their sanity, their stability. These are the things we’ve had to sacrifice in order to look into the void and still believe something meaningful could come from it. You have to be a little crazy to do what we do. You don’t learn how to swim by watching others dive.

Another important lesson from this journey is the power of community. The value of a nurtured ecosystem. When you show up for others, they show up for you. You must become the net worth of your network, not the other way around. Add value before you ask for it.

This trip was made possible by donations, crowdfunding, favours, and a community that chose to believe in the vision. I only wish we had documented it all; this story deserved a film.
Thank you to the team, and to everyone whose names didn’t make it onto the posters but whose contributions were no less vital. You made this possible.

The TX Theatre Hub Collective!

We, as The TX Theatre Hub Collective, have defied every odd. With little to no budget, only passion in our pockets and fire in our hearts, we took our stories, our pain, our laughter, and our dreams all the way to the National Arts Festival Makhanda . And we did not just show up, we shined. We delivered world-class, sold-out performances that echoed beyond the walls of our venue.
We returned home with four prestigious awards, tangible proof that excellence is possible even without privilege. This is a victory not only for us, but for every artist, every crew member, every production that stood on those stages with nothing but courage and craft.

To our phenomenal audiences, thank you for filling every seat, every heart, every moment with love. You remind us that our work matters. We still believe in the Minister of Arts and Culture Gayton Mckenzie. We had a powerful and promising conversation with the NAC, and we are hopeful. No, we are certain, that the future is brighter than we ever imagined.

This is only the beginning. The Hub will rise again, stronger, bolder, more unstoppable.

With love and fire,
The TX Theatre Hub Collective

We are closing our amazing Tx Theatre Hub tomorrow after what has been a truly powerful and unforgettable run. From the very beginning, this space carried a strong spirit of purpose, artistry, and community. We are proud to announce that the Hub received two Standing Ovation Awards, a recognition of the passion and talent poured into every performance. Our final show, Isilwane Esimnyama, closed with a bang bold, raw, and deeply moving, leaving audiences in awe. We also made headlines in two major newspapers, proof that the work done here echoed far beyond our walls. This season was not just a run of shows it was a celebration of voices, of truth, and of township excellence. The Tx Theatre Hub stood tall, and the world listened. Thank you to everyone who made this journey unforgettable. We move forward, stronger than ever.
