Learners from Grade 10-12 heads up! Want to make your own film? This year the Regional Schools' Festival is going digital with an exciting Future Arts Programme. It's a two-day experience of workshops from some of SA's finest theatre and film makers which has been devised by our partner The Market Theatre Laboratory.
Workshops including
DEVISING, by Kgomotso ‘MoMo’ Matsunyane
NARRATIVE, by Ameera Patel
SPACE/LIGHT/ART DIRECTION, by Jemma Kahn
OBJECT/PUPPETRY, by Liezl de K**k
MOVEMENT, by Billy Langa
CAMERA/COLLATION, by Daniel Buckland
CAMERA/COLLATION, by Mongi Mthombeni
SOUND, by Nhlanhla Mahlangu
The skills learnt in the workshops will assist the teams in making their own film and the results will be shared online. Things you need to know:
- It's free to join.
- Your school will need digital screens and vlogging kits to participate.
- With the support of the National Arts Council and Department of Sport, Arts and Culture, the National Arts Festival has designed a “studio in a box”, that includes a smart TV loaded with video-on-demand workshop content and a vlogging kit to enable participation. The boxes will be loaned out based on the expressed needs of participating school.
- Deadline for getting involved is 24 February - so that's really soon!
- Schools can run the programme from 11 March anytime in March and April.
If you want to get your school involved drop an email to [email protected] and we will send all the forms to sign you up.
This project is possible thanks to the involvement of the National Lotteries Commission 📣
