George Music Society The George Music Society was started 70 years ago! Let's keep music alive! The music society hosts one music concert every four to six weeks, except in December.

Established in 1956, the George Music Society is proud to share the magic of live music with the people of George and environs. It also hosts one of the most prestigious music events in the region for up and coming musicians - the Young Musicians Competition. Many finalists and competitors in this competition have gone on to have very successful music careers in later years, some internationally. Concerts are usually held in the Arts Theatre, York Street in George. The society hosts many touring professional artistes from Europe and further abroad, as well as local artistes. The GMS is run by volunteers who donate their time and energy to sharing the magic of music with fellow-music lovers. Membership is available to the general public and the Society is always in need of passionate individuals who might wish to apply to join the management committee.
