Wildfire Crusade November 2024

We were contacted by a local church at very short notice for the Wildfire Crusade late in 2024 with a crowd expectancy of anything from 2000 - 5000 pax - more importantly, the highest expectation was what God wanted to do at the event with the chosen location and community by His calling.

We had IMMENSE rainfall the night before setup day, including the entire - what was supposed to be setup day for us, which was impossible to do. Fortunately the sports field has fantastic draining systems in place which left its with setup early morning of the event. If you know anything about tech setup of this scale on the day of the event, which started at 16:00, you will know the pressure of getting this done in time - this was no joke!

Needless to say we had so many challenges, but by God’s grace and favour, we got the 3 day event up and running - or at least managed to make day 1 happen.

We noticed a few technical issues during day 1, so the team stayed on from about 19:00 until 1:00 the following morning to re-patch everything from backline to DMX lines to make sure we had no issues for the rest of the event.

We witnessed the Holy Spirit touching hearts, lives being saved, outpouring of God’s presence in the most amazing and beautiful ways - words simply cannot explain what happened over the 3 days of this crusade.

This post is pure and honest - not every event goes as planned, this one certainly did not from a tech perspective, BUT what we did, was stay on, and took a brilliant revision of what we learned on the first day, sorted it all out - we were not going to leave until the last snag was sorted to completion. That is whats makes us Brilliant Events - 31 years in the industry, you will always be faced with challenges, we will always stay open to learn and grow, and keep on being Brilliant at what we do!

To God all the Glory for His hand over every aspect of this crusade, and giving us what we needed to make it all work!

It's been such a pleasure to be the AV partner for the 120 year celebration concert of Laerskool Hartenbos. This is a HUGE milestone for any establishment, and this school's magnificent reputation has everything to do with the teachers and principals that are involved with their learners, and parents on a very personal level. What better way to celebrate this auspicious occasion, than doing a concert!

We started engaging with the super awesome organiser, Marche, and she knew what she wanted from the get-go. A couple of meetings and site visits later, along with loads of creative ideas being thrown around, we finalised the visual approach, the lighting placement, the musical approach, and of course the most important part, the script!

4 days - 1 rehearsal and 5 shows later, everyone walked away with smiles!

Our aim is to walk in as a AV supplier, but leave as a friend. This is how we build relationships with out clients. We go over and above to make sure every event is not just a success, but a BRILLIANT EVENT.

Glenwood House School Matric Dance 2024.... THIS was no ordinary event, and no ordinary approach!

When you arrive on site for setup, and your client says whatever aspect you setup, PUSH the boundaries way beyond anything you have ever done before - we want to show people that there is more to a production than they could ever have imagined.... You know you have to bend the rules of what has been done, and what you thought can't be done!

To begin with, this was 3 day matric dance event:
Friday - The actual matric dance
Saturday - The parents dance (who actually pay the school fees lol)
Monday - Matric Fashion Show

PA:
Our client wanted a crisp clear sound setting for speeches, live entertainment, DJ, and various walk up and other music items. We catered for 150 - 700 pax so we placed a beautiful rig for them that resonated in the room, feeling the bass, but you could have a conversation with the person next to you at top volume.

Visualy:
We used the venue screens & infrastructure combined with our visual gear, and superb 4k visual effects for guest arrival, party and more subtle scenes. The stage backdrop was setup with lighting and projector for a combination of colour scene changes, as well as incredible party visualisations.

Lighting & Special Effects:
Our client requested a room full of stars effect that is in line with their theme (not retro disco ball effect, although we used mirror balls, but in a very unique way) So we made it happen with a few extra colour effects :)
We had to position lighting strategically to get the stars effect, plus be modular for programming for party scenes, and stage wash for the fashion show. We combined our infrastructure with theirs, and made various aspects of the decor, dance floor, and backdrop and more, absolutely pop with colour and texture!
We also used a hazer to create that amazing lighting effect lines right throughout the production.
** a super stylish add on from the school side - they printed all the matric's names on stars, and that was stuck on the dance floor, shaping the size and aspect of the dance floor, with an incredible personal touch.

Stage:
We brought in a T-Shape ramp stage for the fashion show which was positioned to have all the choir, and fashion items displayed in such a way that the crowd were right up there in the midst to experience an almost 3D view of the activities.

Other:
Fancy Functions did a sterling job with the fairly lights, draping, tables, chairs and table decor!

We had an incredible time working with Mr Powell and his team, it takes immense creativity, perseverance, patience and authoritative stance to pull of en event like this - you have done an amazing job!!!

To our Heavenly Father, to you all the Glory and Praise for the privilege of doing this event, and for you hand in it all front start to finish!

Doing a 10 day festival in a 20m x 50m tent that is erected on grass, comes with interesting challenges every day - those who know, will know. The mega plus of the annual Knysna Oyster Festival this year, vs 2023, is that we didn’t have 25 days of rain in June. For us as the production company, meant way less worries about things like moisture and condensation.

The weather was perfect! Crowd capacity quickly rose by the thousands. There was an incredible atmosphere from registration for the Forest Marathon on Friday, right through the entire 10 days of the festival.

The Forest marathon was moved to the first weekend of the festival, instead of hosting this well attended event on the last weekend, we could see this was a brilliant call!

Following the marathon was World Cup rugby with the Boks playing Wales. We streamed it live in the tent and maxed out at capacity of 1500 people in the Castle Lite tent. The atmosphere was electric!!

Further to that, the rest of the week was filled activities and entertainment like the Amazing race, oyster shucking, CrossFit, local entertainment like Suzie Leigh, and other well known acts and comedians like Ard Matthews, Kerri Hiles, Conrad Koch, and Chester Missing.

Over and above the top notch sporting events, there were amazing desert wars, food stalls, gift stalls, kids play area and much more!

This year was the benchmark of seeing this amazing event on the rise again and we want to applaud everyone involved with the organising of each and every aspect of this festival!

It was an absolute honour for us to be the preferred AV partner for the 3rd year in a row, and we look forward to see this festival growth into all its glory!

You simply know it when your company is part of very special event! This was the case with the launch of the brand new Africa Skills ,state of the art, artisan training centre in George

We spent a couple of months with this client brain storming a rather tricky setup to meet their unique audio visual requirements. Meeting after meeting to brainstorm, creative input on positioning, control, and ex*****on of everything from multi point media feeds, to custom GOBO lighting programming and more!

As the number of guests exceeded the seating capacity of the upper level, we had to run a complete bi-directional setup for both audio, and media feeds with 3 camera angles, in order for the everyone on both levels, to hear, and see what was happening during the course of the evening.

We loved every minute of the journey, every challenge, and like every event, we walk away inspired and knowing more than yesterday.

Thank you to Jan, Elsie, Phlip, Phillip, and Gerhard for entrusting us to showcase your dream and vision to the world!

We absolutely LOVE working with one of our large Multi-National clients. We did the AV setup for their Western Cape Awards Brunch at the stunning Lord Charles Hotel in Summerset West.

It's incredible to see how a company this size REALLY go all out to award their top Agents, Teams, Branches, Admin Staff and more! What's more, there is such a humble, yet powerful leadership stance from the CEO and senior management team - our team always leave incredibly inspired after every event we do for them!
