Bags Of Stories still on…
Hessian bags carry history, presence and futures, in packages of grain and most particular, coffee. We tell and share stories of history, the present and future over coffee, whose residue is discarded, deleted. How about us people as human bags. Why is it even difficult to D.E.L.T.E what is deletable? In this artwork, Letting Go, the collaboration portrays the feebleness and hardness of releasing, caught between to keep or to delete.

Creating BAGS OF STORIES has been a challenging yet exhilarating journey, beginning with something as humble as discarded espresso residue. As husband and wife, we took what is normally thrown away and gave it new life—transforming coffee, hessian, stitching and memory into a language of renewal. Like the materials we discard, there are histories, relationships, burdens and memories we sometimes struggle to release, even when holding onto them no longer serves us. BAGS OF STORIES lives in that tension between what we choose to keep, what we need to delete, and what deserves to be transformed rather than forgotten. In the end, the installation asks a deeply human question: what do we carry, what do we let go, and what can we resurrect into something meaningful?

Step into BAGS OF STORIES, where art, jazz and performance collide.

Experience WHEN MUSIC MEETS COLOUR 2.0 as N.T. Ngulube transforms a human mannequin into a living canvas to the rhythms of Mr Trumpet & The Trio.

Among the crowd, a second human mannequin becomes our MANDELA SHIRT • DELETE WALL. Women are invited to choose ONE WORD representing something they wish to delete, release or leave behind — and write it directly onto the shirt.

One shirt. Many women. Many stories. One collective act of release.

4 Days To Go…and….
Step into BAGS OF STORIES for an immersive evening where visual art, live jazz and human performance collide.
Experience WHEN MUSIC MEETS COLOUR 2.0 — a live performance in which artist N.T. Ngulube responds to the rhythms of Mr Trumpet & The Trio, transforming a human mannequin into a living canvas as music becomes colour, gesture and mark.
Moving through the audience, a second human mannequin will wear the Mandela Shirt — our DELETE WALL. Women are invited to reflect on something they would choose to delete, release or leave behind — a fear, burden, expectation, memory or limitation — reduce it to ONE WORD, and write that word directly onto the garment.
By the end of the evening, the shirt becomes more than something worn: a collective artwork carrying the words, stories and acts of release of the women who encountered it.
