This Women's Month initiative is supported by the Gauteng Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation celebrating the legacy and contribution of women artists and community icons in Evaton.

The project has created employment opportunities for five local visual artists, empowering talent and skills while transforming our environment into a vibrant public art landmark.

The Mural Project has officially commenced at Motswako Arts Centre🙌🏽🫡

Powered by the Gauteng Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation, this Women's Month initiative celebrates and honours the women of Evaton who have made significant contributions to the arts, culture and community development.

The project not only preserves and showcases local heritage through public art, but also contributes to job creation. Through this initiative, the Department has created employment opportunities for five Visual Artists, comprising three young women and two men, who are bringing this important artwork to life.

As the mural takes shape, it will stand as a lasting tribute to the resilience, creativity and achievements of Evaton's women artists and community icons, while inspiring future generations to embrace the arts as a tool for social change and community pride.

Join us for an empowering Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) Workshop, where we will explore how communities can identify, connect and mobilise the skills, talents, institutions, businesses, culture, stories and physical resources that already exist within them.
Instead of focusing only on what our communities lack, ABCD starts with what we HAVE. 💪🏽

An Immersive Concert-Lecture Experience

Motswako Arts Centre in partnership with Afropolitan Explosiv is proud to announce an upcoming presentation of , the acclaimed concert-lecture by renowned musician, composer and scholar Dr Thokozani Mhlambi.

Taking place on Sunday 20 September 2026, this unique production offers audiences a captivating journey through the rich traditions of Zulu music, blending live performance, historical storytelling and academic insight into one unforgettable experience.

Drawing from extensive archival research and contemporary musical composition, Zulu Song Cycle celebrates South Africa's cultural heritage while inviting audiences to reflect on the stories, sounds and identities that continue to shape our nation.

The production creates a rare intersection of scholarship and artistic excellence, making it an inspiring Sunday afternoon for music lovers, students, educators, cultural practitioners and the wider community.

As Motswako Arts Centre continues to champion quality arts programming in the Vaal, this collaboration with Afropolitan Explosiv represents another milestone in bringing thought-provoking and culturally significant performances closer to local audiences.
