Anyone who has ever loved dancing will know that it never leaves you. Weather you danced for a couple of years when you were young or entered exams and danced on your toes for even a while. If you’ve been in a show or danced in festivals, it stays with you and in your soul forever. 💗
If this resonates with you… you’ll also know that dancing gives you life long friends and memories, inside jokes and builds character. The discipline and tenacity that it takes to be, even an average dancer. To show up and get through your own body’s limitations. To be self aware. To be vulnerable in truth. “Dance is the only art wherein we ourselves , are the stuff of which it is made.” Ted Shawn.
Similarly, Mon Rêve Dance Studio. Which means “My Dream dance studio. I am the stuff of which it is made. Along with my dancers, the parents, my colleagues, our pianists, examiners, the festival organisers and the backing of my incredible family and friends. Mon Rêve has been in existence from 2005. We are a small recreational studio that still manages to hold an excellent standard in Cecchetti exams, danced at Gauteng performance, collect winners and runners up at festivals, we have been a part of Val White for many years and bursary awards. I am immensely proud of our dancers. 💓
Mon Rêve has changed and diversified over the years. Starting with Cecchetti ballet, AIDT modern, DESA hip hop, Line Dancing, Glow Sticks Stretch and tone, Groovy grannies mobility and strength to name few. I have taught wedding couples first dances and had wonderful and talented teachers in the studio over the years. Teaching Latin American, ballroom, Pilates, yoga, belly dancing, Tai-chi. Blessed beyond with the characters that have shared Mon Rêve.
As I move into 2026 my hope is that those that choose to be with us at Mon Rêve understand the dream. To encourage, inspire, support, uplift and find the fun. As a teacher there are challenges before the dancer even begins. The pressures of life seem to weigh heavy on our little peeps and on us. Providing a safe and kind environment to dance their little hearts out is really important to me.
I don’t post on this page because POPI act is a real thing. Wish I could brag about my dancers and post all the beautiful costumes and fun times. It just gets a bit tricky. Please don’t be detoured by my lack of posts but rather come and experience it for realzies.
