A MEETING OF WINDS - THIS WEEKEND!

Rehearsals are underway for A Meeting of Winds, bringing together musicians from the Makana Community Orchestra and DEVO Chamber Orchestra for a special weekend of symphonic wind music.

This collaboration sees musicians from two Eastern Cape community orchestras sharing the stage, under the direction of conductors Johan Pretorius and Wesley Wong, for performances in both kuGompo City (East London) and Makhanda.

A MEETING OF WINDS

We are excited to present A Meeting of Winds — a special symphonic wind collaboration between the Makana Community Orchestra(MCO) and the DEVO Chamber Orchestra from kuGompo (East London).

Two community orchestras from across the Eastern Cape will come together to celebrate the power of collaboration, community and live music, with performances in both kuGompo City and Makhanda.

The concert will feature woodwind players from both orchestras, bringing together musicians and music teachers from across the province. The programme promises an exciting and diverse selection of orchestral repertoire, conducted by Johan Pretorius and Wesley Wong.

Come and experience two ensembles, two cities and one shared love of music.

The feedback from our audiences after MAGICAL MUSICALS at the Umtiza Arts Festival has been truly encouraging.

From the energy in the theatre to the comments received afterwards, we are grateful for the overwhelming support shown to the DEVO Chamber Orchestra, our soloists, and all the musicians who worked so hard to bring this programme to life.

Thank you to everyone who attended, applauded, shared their thoughts, and supported live orchestral music in East London. Your support makes projects like these possible and inspires us to keep making music together.

What a wonderful evening!

Our first performance of Magical Musicals was met with an enthusiastic audience, and it was a privilege to share the stage with so many talented musicians and soloists. Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the evening so special.
