OFFICIAL PUBLIC STATEMENT - MUSIC IN THE SNOW
Subject: Important Update - Festival Commencement at 16:00 at Farm 178.
Dear Valued Patrons,
We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused by the unforeseen community protest in Hogsback yesterday and today.
At Eastern Cape Jazz Festival Organisation, we believe every patron deserves a safe, well-rounded and memorable festival experience. The disruption we experienced yesterday and this morning was beyond our control.
It is with a heavy heart that we note this action comes from within the community - the very same community who are the prime beneficiaries of this festival. To date, Music In The Snow has contributed directly to the local economy through accommodation bookings, food and beverage sales, and most importantly, job creation for the people of the Eastern Cape.
We firmly believe that every corner of the Eastern Cape belongs to all who live in this land, and should be explored and enjoyed by all - not by a single race. The hosting of festivals across our province is a catalyst for job creation, inclusive tourism and sustainable development.
We appeal to the residents of Hogsback to join us in painting a beautiful picture of the Rainbow Nation in our beautiful mountains. Let us work together, not against one another.
Due to the clearing of trees that were felled during the protest and to ensure the safety of all attendees, the main festival will now commence at 16h00.
