A CLARIFICATION ABOUT ISIDODA.UBUDODA.INDODA
I feel it is important to clarify something about ISIDODA.UBUDODA.INDODA, particularly because the work has evolved over the years and the original intention may not always be clear to everyone.
ISIDODA.UBUDODA.INDODA was born from ULWALUKO NOBUDODA.
The original script was created with a very specific purpose: to educate, challenge, guide and transform boys into better, responsible men.
It was never written simply as entertainment. At its heart was a message about boyhood, manhood, responsibility, choices, accountability and the journey of becoming a man.
When the original script went into production, the production process resulted in significant changes to the original story and its educational elements. As a result, the final film differed considerably from the script and the creative intention with which it was originally written.
One of the most significant changes was the fate of the protagonist — the character carrying the central message. In the produced version, that character was killed, fundamentally changing the direction in which the original story was intended to develop.
I say this not to discredit the work that was produced, nor to attack the people who brought that version to life.
I say it because the original script still exists, and its purpose still matters.
There is therefore another distinction I feel compelled to make clear:
ISIDODA.UBUDODA.INDODA PART 2 should not be understood as a continuation of the original educational mission of the first script.
Part 2 represents a different creative and entertainment direction. It should therefore not be used as a measure of what the original ISIDODA.UBUDODA.INDODA was created to achieve.
The original ISIDODA.UBUDODA.INDODA remains the first-born of ULWALUKO NOBUDODA.
Its purpose was — and remains — to speak to young men, to challenge them, to educate them and to contribute towards raising men who understand responsibility, dignity, accountability and the true weight of manhood.
For that reason, the original story deserves to be told as it was written.
ISIDODA.UBUDODA.INDODA will therefore, in time, be reshot according to the original script.
Not as an attack on what came before.
Not to erase anyone's contribution.
But to restore the original story.
To restore the message.
And most importantly, to restore the purpose.
Because ULWALUKO NOBUDODA was never created merely for entertainment.
It was created to speak to boys before the world teaches them what it thinks a man should be.
Isidoda. Ubudoda. Indoda.
The journey from becoming a boy… to understanding what it means to become a man.
