Our Story
Mia is 14 years old, the oldest of three sisters. She is in Grade 8 at Curro Durbanville High. When she was little she told her parents that, one day when she’s big, she wants to live between the theatre and the zoo. During 2015 Mia played the role of Annie in the production at Curro Primary School and obtained her Western Province colours for gymnastics. Mia’s first debut in a professional stage musical was during Dec/Jan 2016 as Duffy in the Broadway musical, Annie. Mia went on to be chosen to play the role of Louisa in the Sound of Music production running during May 2018 at Artscape. She also played the role of Maria in the Sound of Music at the Curro Durbanville 20 year anniversary concert. Mia was also part of the Currage Concert, celebrating Curro’s 20th birthday. She was chosen alongside 20 other talented Curro learners from across the country to part of this event. Mia was the only primary school learner that was part of the cast. This production, directed by Hennie van Greunen and Pedro Kruger, toured nationally during Jan 2019 and earned her full honour colours for Art and Culture. During 2019 Mia was part of the Katvoet production that performed at Woordfees, KKNK, Inniebos, Vryfees and Aardklop. This production was adapted and directed by Nico Scheepers. Mia is extremely grateful for her God given talent and any opportunity to share it with an audience.
