The Leak You Hear But Never See

Not every leak leaves a puddle. 💧 If your toilet keeps refilling on its own, hisses between uses, or trickles constantly into the bowl, water is running away 24 hours a day.

The usual culprits are a worn inlet valve, a perished flush washer, or a float that no longer seals. It's a small fault, but it never stops, and you only really notice it on the municipal bill.

A quick test: put a little food colouring in the cistern and don't flush. If colour appears in the bowl, water is passing through and it needs attention.

Four Signs Your Geyser Needs Attention

Your geyser usually warns you before it fails 💧 The trick is knowing what to look for. Keep an eye out for hot water that runs cold too soon or keeps changing temperature, and any knocking, popping or rumbling sounds coming from the unit.

Discoloured or rusty water from your hot taps is another red flag, along with damp patches, drips or moisture near the geyser or on the ceiling below it. A small issue caught early is a repair.
