Today let learn about how to write a song.

*How to Write a Song*

Writing a song is really about turning a feeling or idea into sound. Here’s a simple, practical step-by-step method that works for beginners and advanced musicians alike 👇

1. Start with ONE clear idea
Don’t start with “a song.”
Start with one emotion, story, or message.
Examples:
Heartbreak
Hope after struggle
Hustle / success
Faith / doubt
👉 Ask yourself: What do I want people to feel?

2. Choose the song type
Decide early:
Happy / sad
Slow / fast
Chill / energetic
This helps you choose:
Key
Tempo
Chords

3. Pick a simple chord progression
Most great songs are simple.
Examples:
I – V – vi – IV (C–G–Am–F)
vi – IV – I – V (Am–F–C–G)
I – IV – V (C–F–G)
👉 Loop it and sing over it.

4. Find a melody (don’t overthink)
Hum first (no lyrics yet)
Use notes from the key/scale
Repeat ideas (catchy = repeatable)
Rule: If you can hum it later, it’s good.

5. Write lyrics that sound spoken
Good lyrics sound like real conversation.

8. Edit ruthlessly
First draft is NEVER perfect.
Ask:
Is this line necessary?
Is the melody memorable?
Does the song say ONE clear thing?
Cut weak lines.

9. Test it
Sing it to a friend
Record a voice note
Play it on one instrument only
If it works simple, it will work produced.
Hard truth (but important)
A finished song is better than a perfect unfinished one.
