INK Arts Festival Interaction with the artists, creative talent and community is on—going.

INK Arts Festival is the primary arts, culture and tourism development project in EThekwini Municipality's INK [Inanda, Ntuzuma & KwaMashu] Townships Zone.; attracting more than 100 local, emerging and community-based artists. Objectives of the INK Arts Festival
• To identify talent and creativity to showcase;
• To identify and secure training opportunities;
• Attract international sponsors, fun

ders, markets and audiences;
• To develop the arts, culture and tourism in the township.
• To provide multiple platforms for showcasing and promoting talent, productions other forms of works of art and to provide and create mentorship programmes for aspiring artists from the various creative arts industries. The Ntuzuma Arts Festival can be divided into three components:

DEVELOPMENT:
This component refers to the educational content and delivery of, to the artists, creative talent and community through means of industry-specific training workshops, short courses and providing project support and mentorship services to artists and creative talent. PROMOTION:
This component refers to the various platforms that the festival will create for artists and creative talent to market, promote and possibly sell their original work, productions and creations directly to the community, nationally and internationally. The N.T.A.F seeks to become business / market exchange platform, benefiting artists, creative talent and local SMME’s. SHOWCASE
This component refers to the whole physical presentation of the Ntuzuma Arts Festival; this includes and in not limited to the exhibition of creative productions by artists and creative talent through live or recorded performances, productions and other. The combination of the above-mentioned components ensures that we deliver a quality festival to the community and municipality of EThekwini; using arts to accelerate social cohesion and nation building; promoting the arts and crafts by groups of women and disabled people; foster capacity building and skills transfer, partnerships for a disadvantaged community; taking the arts to the community, outside major cultural centres and last but not least the festival seeks to create employment for artists, creative talent and youth from a disadvantaged community.

CALL FOR ARTISTS & EXHIBITORS

The Nelisa Mzimela Legacy Foundation (NPO Reg. 107-279-NPO) invites artists, performers, exhibitors, cultural practitioners, and creative entrepreneurs to apply for participation in the 10th INK Arts Festival, taking place from 31 July – 02 August 2026 in the INK area.

Sunday, 02 August | 10h00 – 17h00 Music & Radio Day Industry experts, networking opportunities and live performances.

The festival celebrates 10 years of empowering creatives, promoting cultural expression, and creating opportunities within the arts sector.

The Nelisa Mzimela Legacy Foundation will host a Human Rights Dialogue on the Plight of the LGBT+ Community in commemoration of South Africa’s National Human Rights Month. The session will address issues of equality, access to services, discrimination, and community inclusion.

The dialogue will bring together key stakeholders including Durban Le***an & Gay Centre, KZN LGBT Recreation, Aurum Institute, TransHope, government departments, civil society, and local leadership.

Schools, taxi associations, clinics, social workers, faith-based and traditional leaders, and other community-based organisations are encouraged to attend in numbers and participate in this important conversation.

Since its inception in 2021, the Music Creation Support Fund (MCSF) has empowered SAMRO members to revitalise their creativity, enabling them to generate income through the development of unpublished and original compositions.
