Phakama Dance Theatre is a professional contemporary/ballet dance company that was established in 2015 by the members of KZN Dance Productions. KZN Dance Productions is a multicultural non-profit company, based at The Playhouse Company. The company was established by professional dancers under the hopes and dreams of the Late Zinhle Gumede who was the founding member and director of the NPC. The D

ancers were initially brought together by the Playhouse Company to be a part of its dance residency. The Playhouse Company established its Dance Residency Programme in response to the scarcity of funding, training and facilities for theatre practioners. Since then they have assisted and encourage the dancers to become young entrepreneurs. THE COMPANY’S MAIN OBJECTIVES ARE TO:

• Collaborate with National and International organizations with the same interest.
• Raise funds to support community development programs through and for the arts
• Create jobs by promoting dance
• Support service delivery to impoverished communities
• Promote self help programs for the youth and the public

Vision
