The mic still holds a ghost of your first line,
a hush where laughter used to rise and fall.
You lit the stage, a small and steady sign
that words could be the truest thing of all.

The open books, the folded, crumpled sheets,
the metaphor you never got to hone—
now silence keeps the rhythm of your beats,
a verse cut short, a deeply hollowed tone.

You graced the boards, then took a sudden door
to where no open mic or spotlight gleams.
We’re left to wonder what you would have swore
in stanzas now existing only in our dreams.

So go, young voice. The stage will miss your weight.
But poems don’t die—they simply emigrate.
