This episode also opens a necessary conversation about the impact of colonialism on our indigenous societies, how systems of colonial rule disrupted traditional structures, identities and ways of life, and contributed to the creation and consolidation of broader tribal groupings as mechanisms of administration and control.

Who were we before the disruption?

A Warm Welcome to Our 2026 National Youth Service (NYS) Team! 🎉

Today, we proudly celebrate and welcome the 2026 National Youth Service (NYS) Team serving under the Makgolokwe a Mafehleng Traditional Council.

These remarkable young people have answered the call to serve their community with passion, commitment, and purpose. Throughout their journey, they will contribute to initiatives that uplift our community through learner support, sports development, arts and culture, and other meaningful community service activities.

As part of this six-month programme, participants will gain valuable work experience, develop practical skills, and receive a monthly stipend while serving their community. This initiative is designed to empower young people through service, personal growth, and skills development.

We are incredibly proud to have you as ambassadors of positive change. Your dedication, teamwork, and willingness to make a difference are an inspiration to us all. May this opportunity equip you with valuable skills, lasting friendships, and experiences that will shape your future.

The Makgolokwe Traditional Council proudly celebrates the successful graduation of learners who completed their training programme, marking a significant milestone in their journey of skills development and empowerment.

The graduation ceremony was a proud and memorable occasion, with graduates being recognised for their dedication, perseverance, and commitment throughout the programme. A special highlight of the event was the opportunity for the graduates to be honoured by shaking hands with the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development of South Africa, symbolising recognition of their hard work and achievement.

The ceremony was attended by Kgosikgolo Lehasa II, whose presence reflected the Traditional Council’s continued commitment to supporting education, youth development, and community empowerment.

The Makgolokwe Traditional Council extends its sincere congratulations to all graduates. Your success is a testament to your determination and resilience, and we are confident that this achievement will open doors to new opportunities and a brighter future.
