Cape Fynbos Micro

16/08/2025

My artwork 𝑾𝒂𝒃𝒐𝒐𝒎 𝑻𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒔𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒎𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 has been selected for the 2025 Stellenbosch University Botanical Garden Botanical Art & Photography exhibition.

The exhibition will be at the Stellenbosch University Botanical Garden and runs from 13 September 2025 to 16 January 2026. So pop in if you are so inclined.

𝑾𝒂𝒃𝒐𝒐𝒎 𝑻𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒔𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒎𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏, captures the steady and multistage transformation of 𝘗𝘳𝘰𝘵𝘦𝘢 𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘥𝘢 during its blooming months. Nitida evolves from a tight bud of bronze & green bracts which then transforms to green, with a bundle of velvety, bronze tipped florets rising out of the bract cluster. It then unfurls, transforming into a wide bowl of florets and pollen presenter needles.

My experience of the forms, movement, colours and textures during the Nitida metamorphosis from bud to full flowerhead inspired the creation of this work.

I started 𝘊𝘢𝘱𝘦 𝘍𝘺𝘯𝘣𝘰𝘴_𝘔𝘪𝘤𝘳𝘰 in 2021, a creative platform through which I channel my love of fynbos and create my fynbos artworks.

If you love fynbos too, follow Cape Fynbos Micro for my adventures through the Fynbos Biome and the artworks that they inspire.

Thank you to Stellenbosch University Botanical Garden for the opportunity to be part of this exhibition, and to Stephen at Art Assist for the superb artwork prints and valuable printing advice.
