The Cape Magicians Circle is proud to announce the appointment of Marvin Berglas as Honorary Vice President of the Cape Magicians Circle.

Mr Berglas—President of The Magic Circle and founder of Marvin’s Magic—is recognised for his extraordinary and lifelong contributions to the Art of Magic. Through his work and as a global ambassador for magic, he has played a pivotal role in inspiring generations of magicians and expanding the reach of the art worldwide.

This appointment also honours a unique and distinguished legacy. In 1993, the Cape Magicians Circle conferred the same title of Honorary Vice President upon Mr Berglas’s father, the late David Berglas MBE. The conferral of this title upon his son Marvin reflects both his individual achievements and the enduring impact of the Berglas family on the history of magic.

The Cape Magicians Circle is honoured by Mr Berglas’s acceptance of this appointment and is proud to welcome him as an Honorary Officer of the Circle.

As we get ready to wrap up the year, I wanted to say a big thank you to each and every one of you for making 2025 truly memorable. Your support and dedication to the Circle is what makes it such a wonderful group to be a part of.

What a fantastic way to end off the year with our CMC Christmas Magic Show on Tuesday evening! I think we can all agree it was a resounding success with loads of positive feedback from the audience members. Thank you to each member who played a part in the evening, whether it was by performing in the show, helping backstage, buying tickets & sharing with friends, or bringing such lovely treats with for the social time after the show. I heard many people commenting on the high standard of the show, and I think we can be proud that we showcased the very best of the Cape Magicians Circle.

I am looking forward to what the new year will bring for our group, and I know we will continue to grow and build on what we have.

We will have one more social get-together in the next week or two, details will be posted on the group soon.

Thank you again and wishing you and your family a very blessed festive season, and a prosperous 2026!

Thank you everyone for a fantastic meeting last night. We welcomed some guests, and we hope we will see them become regulars ! The performances of magic you can do with regular shop-bought items was great to see, the ostrich leather close-up pads displayed by Peter are amazing, and the feedback from FISM by Sahil was inspiring - I think its safe to say we all wish we were there! Remember next month is Daelin Trophy time again, so get those acts ready so long 😊

The theme of our meeting this month is Your Own Creations – magic that you have made or built yourself. It can be either magic that you created yourself, or someone else’s trick that you made the gimmicks or props yourself. It can be any type of magic, so feel free to bring along some of your things to show off!

As you know John O’Toole recently attended the Blackpool Magic Convention, so we look forward to hearing his feedback regarding everything that happened there and maybe show off some of the new products he managed to buy that side if we ask him nicely!

Unfortunately, I will have to send my apologies for the meeting. I am heading to Joburg, PE (or GQ as the kids call it these days) and Caledon next week so sadly I will miss it, but Glenn will be there to run the evening’s programme.

We will also be having another social evening in March, on Wednesday the 19th. We will confirm the venue closer to the date so keep an eye on the WhatsApp group.

One last point of order – we need to have our annual AGM again, so we have that scheduled for the April meeting. We will keep the admin to a minimum, so it shouldn’t take up more than 15 minutes of the meeting. We just need to do a quick President & Treasurer’s report and then do an election for the three current committee positions (president, secretary, treasurer). So, if you are currently an active member in good standing, please make sure to attend on that evening!

PS. Speaking of – if you haven’t yet, please make sure your annual membership dues are brought up to date before the AGM! Still only R300 for the entire year, and you can pay via EFT:

Account Name: CAPE MAGICIANS CIRCLE
Bank: ABSA
Account Number: 9394529614
Branch: Cavendish Square
Branch Code: 632005

Use your name & surname as reference and send POP to Glenn on 073 405 1199.

Good day Magi,

Hope you are doing well. Firstly, I'd like to thank everyone who came to our October Halloween meeting. We had a wonderfully spooky time, seeing everyone do their scary and bizarre magick! We also had feedback from our members who attended the recent Sapphire Convention in Joburg; great to hear the stories and all the magic that took place.

Next week, our November meeting will focus on MENTALISM & MIND-MAGIC. Please bring along some of your favourite mentalism routines to perform and / or discuss. After that, we will have a guest talk by mentalist extraordinaire Bryan Miles. Bryan is no stranger and his mentalism skills have taken him all over, and earned him his own television series.

Lastly, we will be ending off the year at our December meeting (3rd December) by having a Family Christmas Show - so please let me know if you're happy to be part of the show and perform for about 10 minutes, and invite some family & friends with to come enjoy the evening with us. More details on the show & tickets will follow soon.
