One of my favourite parts of tattooing has always been the people.

You can spend hours with someone in the studio, sometimes across multiple sessions and years. You talk about life, relationships, work, family, stupid s**t, serious s**t, everything in between.

That kind of trust matters to me.

You’re trusting me to permanently change something on your body, so I want the experience around that to feel just as considered as the tattoo itself.

Good work matters.
So does feeling comfortable with the person doing it.

One of my favourite parts of tattooing has always been the people.

WORK IN PROGRESS.

Starting a new sleeve for Jean, and this is the first stage of a much bigger project.

He’s trusted me with the direction and given me the freedom to build the arm properly from the beginning. Right now, we’re blocking the main elements into place before pushing the shading and detail further.

This part of the process matters. Getting the composition, placement and flow right first gives everything that follows a stronger foundation.

A very good start. Plenty still to come.

TWO YEARS HEALED.

Almost every tattoo can look impressive when it’s fresh.

The real test is what happens once the skin has completely settled and the tattoo has had time to live.

When you’re choosing an artist, don’t only look at their fresh work. Look for healed work too. That’s where you can see whether the contrast still reads, the details have held, and the tattoo still looks strong on the body.

This Japanese piece is two years old.

For me, that longevity matters just as much as how good it looked on day one.

I used to watch National Geographic as a kid, as most South African kids around my age used to. S/O SABC 3😘

Nature reminds us of the brutality being a living being on this earth, the contrasting beauty of two beautiful creatures…one predator and one prey, both iconic to our nation.

Even as a kid I understood the harsh nature of reality, neither to be interpreted as a good or bad thing, but understanding that’s just the cycle of life.

Had a special session with Chad! We’re starting a new leg sleeve with a tragic, but deeply routed scene. One of sacrifice and fulfilment. This is session 1 of 2 on this piece. We put down the foundation, linework and primary values. In the next session we’ll amp up the detail and move on.

[DESIGNS AVAILABLE]

I’m opening a limited number of spaces for selected concepts I want to bring to life as part of my portfolio.

These projects will receive a reduced session rate, with the total number of sessions depending on scale, placement and the final direction of the piece. There will be no changes to the design at all.

For clients who connect with the work and are comfortable giving me the creative freedom to execute it properly.

The final slides are examples of placement, but are not the only options.

Keags’ back goes very red while we work, but don’t let that fool ya…He sits like an absolute champ🔥
