Dearest ABZ friends and fam. We have arrived at a crossroads on the next steps for ANY BODY ZINE. With Kopano and Nicola both based in Europe, and Julia stepping back from a directorial position to focus on her studies in Makhanda - we have been reflecting on the ways in which ABZ needs to adapt in order to fit our current situation. And we are wondering how can we serve our community, from this great distance? And what is it that our community needs? Can we make this long-distance relationship work? Is it worth it? Or is is time for ABZ to step back and gracefully come to a pause? Please give us your input, your ideas and your thoughts - either in comments below, or if you wish to input privately, email us at [email protected]. Before we make our next decision - we need to know what you think of ABZ and how we could / should / would continue... With much love, the ABZ team.

EVERYONE - HELLO! πŸŒ’ Not only is it new moon today, marking the beginning of another lunar cycle, but it is also the release of our latest episode of Between Twenty and Thirty: Conversations for the New Moon - featuring Mmakgosi Kgabi! (Find it here: https://anybodyzine.org.za/podcast/)

In this episode, Nicola van Straaten sits down with Mmakgosi as they track her twenties. Join Mmakgosi's story from Gabarone to Grahamstown to Johannesburg to Berlin, as she tells the story of her successful and ceaseless hustle as a performer.

Every new moon we are releasing a conversation with a different artist or cultural worker, discussing their life and work during the ages of 20 to 30. Each podcast lasts between 20 and 30 minutes and in this way, we aim to develop an aural archive of the stories of artists in our community, as well as provide some inspiration and information for any creative person navigating the 'emerging artist' phase of their twenties.

Between Twenty and Thirty is ABZ's first podcast! Here we discuss with artists about how they lived and made art during the years of their twenties.
